How We Got Here

Built by Someone Who Never Stopped Believing in This Place.

There's a moment every healthcare provider faces — when they stop and ask themselves whether the system they're working in is truly serving the people who need it most.

For Jonathan Shelton, PA-C, that moment came after more than a decade of practicing medicine across physical rehabilitation, orthopedics, and sports medicine in the region he's always called home. He kept seeing the same thing: patients in Abingdon and across Southwest Virginia who needed advanced, specialized care but couldn't easily access it.

Jonathan knew the solution wasn't somewhere else. It was here. So he built it.

The Practice

Skyline Healthcare opened its doors in Abingdon, Virginia as a multispecialty private practice designed from the ground up around the needs of this community — owned and operated by someone who grew up here, went to school here, and chose to build his life and career here.

Jonathan was born and raised in Abingdon — a graduate of Abingdon High School, East Tennessee State University, and Bethel University's physician assistant program in McKenzie, Tennessee. After 13 years in clinical practice spanning PM&R, orthopedics, sports medicine, and general care, he brought everything he'd learned back home — and added the most promising advances in modern medicine to the mix.

Today, Skyline Healthcare offers physical medicine and rehabilitation, peptide therapy, medical weight loss, and regenerative medicine — a combination of services rarely found together, and almost never this close to home for patients in Washington County and the surrounding region.
